Welcome to my world
I am a wife, a mom, a daughter, a sister and a friend.
I've learned that who you have in your life matters more than what you have.
Thank you for stepping in to my world!

Kicking cancer's ass - day 1497
October 2 - Most breast cancer – about 85 percent – occurs in women who have no family history of breast cancer.
I'm kind of struggling with what to write about this, because I have a lot of family history with cancer. But that will be a post to go along with another fact for October.
However, the facts are the facts. 85% means that a lot of women will be blindsided by a cancer diagnosis. They've never had someone in their family with breast cancer. They may not even know anyone close to them who have had it. And that can make it even more difficult when they get that diagnosis. Hearing the words "You have cancer" is something you think will never happen to you.
Please don't think you are "safe" because your mother, your grandmother, your aunts, your sister have all lived lives free of breast cancer. This disease does not discriminate, and it could be a black cloud following your family, or it could strike out of the blue with no warning.
There are many risk factors for breast cancer, and bad genetics is only one of them.
Knowledge is power, ladies.
